Penzance pride for Olympic gold!

So, London 2012 is all over but didn't we do well?

As the country basks in Olympic glory this tiny corner of Great Britain salutes Team GB's great sporting achievements, with particular pride for our very own Penzance born Helen Glover. Helen's family own the renowned Jelberts ice-cream shop in Newlyn, where passers by have been kept up to speed with Helen's amazing Olympic journey through regular updates in the shop window on Newlyn's New Road.

In honour of the gold she won for rowing we now have a very special golden Royal Mail post box! The King George VI painted post box - one of Royal Mail's oldest - is situated on Quay Street opposite Penzance harbour and will remain gold for six months.
